Texas man wanted for murder after apartment shooting

Being convicted of murder can result in very serious penalties in Texas that include the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence. Police are searching for a man who they believe shot and killed three people and wounded two others in an apartment building recently. The 25-year-old man now faces capital murder charges in the Nov. 20 incident. In addition, he has a prior criminal record, which could impact this case.

The shooting occurred at about 4:25 p.m. According to the sheriff's department, all five victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were found seated, and each had been shot in the head.

A 21-year-old woman, 17-year-old man and 17-year-old woman died. Two other victims, a male and a female, were flown to a local trauma center. The woman remains on life support, but the man was reported to be in stable condition. Investigators reportedly found drugs and weapons at the scene.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating the accused. According to reports, he was convicted on gun charges in 2009. He also has a juvenile conviction for aggravated robbery from 2004.

Reports do not indicate what sentence the accused may face if he is convicted of murder, but the penalty is likely to be very severe. Despite the man's prior criminal record, he has the right under Texas law to a fair trial. He would do well to find a criminal defense team that will vigorously defend his rights as they work out the best strategy to fight the charges against him.
