Murder charges brought against 2 in death of security guard

No one wants to be charged with a crime. The ramifications for being found guilty can be serious depending on the charges one faces. This is particularly true when someone is accused of doing something that leads to the death of another person. The penalties tied to a conviction for such a charge include lengthy prison stays. In Texas, the death penalty may also be sought.

Two individuals, a man and a woman, were recently charged with capital murder in connection with the death of a man in Houston. They were allegedly a part if a group of individuals involved in a robbery of the Lucky Star Game Room. In the course of that robbery two men attacked the security guard. In the course of that attack the man was shot in the head. Though he survived the initial incident the 53-year-old man died after being transported to an area hospital.

So far the two individuals charged are the only ones who have been arrested in connection with the alleged crime. Whether others will be arrested and charged with similar crimes remains to be seen. In the meantime the individuals facing the charges have likely taken steps to defend themselves. While it is advisable to seek assistance from a criminal defense attorney any time criminal charges are leveled this is particularly true when they are for capital murder.

Though serious, a criminal charge is not the same as a conviction. There are several ways in which such a charge might be resolved besides being found guilty. While there are times when the case against an individual is not strong enough and a not guilty verdict is returned, sometimes the accused can secure less serious consequences by agreeing to a plea deal. Because there is so much on the line, regardless of the approach an accused takes it is important to work with a criminal defense lawyer who has handled such matters in the past.
